Requirements for the energy efficiency of buildings are increasing year by year. In addition, constantly increasing heating prices can be observed. These and many other factors incline to reduce heat losses through individual building elements. STEICOtop panels allow you to easily insulate the ceiling in an uninhabited attic, and the costs of the entire investment pay back after a few years.
In many older buildings we have a similar attic structure: uninhabited but accessible wasteland. If in such a case the roof was not properly insulated, we are dealing with a typical, uninsulated attic. In such a place there is a huge heat loss during the heating season and excessive heating in the summer. Attic insulation is now very simple and beneficial for the wallet. With a few steps, it becomes possible to save a huge amount of energy: up to 250 KWh / m2 per year. This corresponds to approx. 25 l of heating oil or approx. 25 m3 of natural gas per m2 per year.
Sturdy STEICOtop insulation boards enable the rapid isolation of large areas. Due to the blunt edges, the panel does not require additional processing when sliding the insulation against the edges of the room, as in the case of panels with a groove profile. The material adheres perfectly to typical elements in the roof, e.g. murals. In the case of using a double insulation layer, it is recommended to lay panels on the so-called "Overlap", which further minimizes thermal bridges at the joints.
The attic also has irregular surfaces such as rafters, beams, etc. In such cases, the STEICOflex elastic insulation mat allows you to easily insulate irregular spaces while minimizing thermal bridges. Possible gaps can be filled with waste generated during cutting the mat.
For wooden beams, it is recommended to install the vapor barrier first. This option is not necessary for most concrete floors in older buildings.
STEICOtop Finish-Oberfl che STEICOtop insulation boards have an additionally compacted outer surface with a special structure. This surface is distinguished by its extremely high strength. Thanks to these properties, the board is suitable for direct walking, without having to install an additional construction board on the insulation. As a result, the attic can serve as a well-insulated storage room.
In addition, STEICOtop panels are particularly open to diffusion. If excess moisture gets into the material, the hob will easily drain it out. For other insulating materials, the necessary additional coating from the top in the form of building boards (e.g. OSB), acts as a vapor barrier at the same time - this limits the possibility of moisture evaporation. STEICOtop panels are diffusion-open, which is why they significantly reduce the risk of fungal formation.
